Uncle G’s FUN Movie Reviews
Spotlight: Sharknado (2013 SYFY Channel Movie)

Can you imagine being actress Tara Reed or actor Ian Ziering (American TV Series_Beverly Hills 90210) and waking up this morning realizing they were in a hit movie? A new SYFY Channel film that caught social media on fire. People were all caught up in what was; Sharknado (2013). A brand new B movie created by the good people at, The Asylum. An independent film studio out of Hollywood, California.

Tara and Ian play ex-husband and wife with two grown-up-looking children. Based on how old the two are today, it’s entirely possible. Ms. Reed spends most of the movie reacting, while Mr. Ziering does some outstanding acting. This is B Film territory. One scene has Ian busting out of a shark with a chainsaw. The dude’s covered in blood. He saved the life of one of his employees. Now I’m jumping all over. Ian’s character owns a bar. We find that out at the beginning of this true popcorn fest. Just kick your shoes off and enjoy. It’s not a movie that requires you to think much. It’s all laid out there in front of you.

Flying sharks…it’s so cool. Not perfect looking, but what is presented is entertaining. I’m guessing the shark effects are mostly CGI. The script could have better dialogue. Yet The Asylum gave us yet another fun flick that’s cool to poke fun at. People are already asking for a sequel. I bet Tara and Ian could not be any happier now.

Have you missed Sharknado? Blu-ray and DVD are coming out in September. Usually, retail giant Walmart blows these movies off for ten bucks brand new. Blu-ray an extra five. Accounts on the bonus feature(s) as to whether I’ll buy/watch it again.
