Uncle G’s FUN Concert Film Reviews
Spotlight: Dream Theater – Live at Luna Park (2013 Eagle Rock Entertainment)

By Gary “Uncle G” Brown

One of the ways I celebrated the New Years, was viewing Dream Theater’s first concert recorded exclusively for Blu-ray. The title; Dream Theater – Live At Luna Park. Recorded in Buenos Aires, Argentina during their tour for A Dramatic Turn of Events. The first Dream Theater tour without co-founder Mike Portnoy who quit the group back in 2010. Replaced by another phenomenal drummer name Mike Mangini, whose worked with others including Steve Vai.

The Concert

Recorded beautifully. For the most part the band seriously rocks. Metal-Prog fans like myself eat this shit up. A vivid and sharp picture. Just like being there but without having to pay for parking. Definitely a Blu-ray disc that that begs for repeat plays. I watched / listened to the concert itself, three times so far. Comes with bonus material including a well put-together straight-forward documentary on the band. Regarding the audio, it’s just like having a whole new live album. I’m a very happy Dream Theater fan. Climbed on-board when their second studio album, Images And Words, was released (1992). Never as a follower of the group was I extremely disappointed, except when Portnoy quit. Life goes on. Every past and now present member – extraordinary talented musicians. It’s been a real pleasure the last two decades getting into this group. I saw them once; Systematic Chaos Tour. LOVED every minute of that performance.

Note: Here’s your tracking list. Next to the name of the song I took the liberty to include the name of the studio album the song originated from.
